Our top Rental booking tips and tricks:
How to get the best value:
- June, July, and August are high season in Emerald Isle. To get the best value, change your vacation to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer warm temperatures, , and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months.
- In the New Bern area, The sooner your group can book a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The most desirable properties are reserved very early. Booking your rental six - twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and book your rental home.
- Hosts sometimes offer promotional rates for veterans. Ask your property manager if special offers are available for your group.
- Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer their guests an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply New Bern area travel guides which will include special deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Planning and choosing a perfectrental:
- Select your vacation dates and maximum budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group requires. Great Escape West, Oceanfront Duplex in Emerald Isle, NC! has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is usually accessible online. Otherwise, email the host before you book your rental. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to establish which bed configuration is optimal for your vacation family.
- If there's a specific New Bern destination you are enamored with, browse rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater to your desires.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- Are you bringing the family pet? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional pet fees or applied to your contract.
More tips for your stay:
- Take a copy of the property manager's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental property. Put the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- To ensure that no damages are linked to your stay, inspect for any problem areas during check in. Speak to the host right away to relay any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a great resource to find the best local beaches.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Ensure you protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental while you are out, just like you would at home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the rental to reconfirm you've collected everything. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did you have a great stay? Most rental managers make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or host was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was defective and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
