Our top Vacation rental booking tips:
Money saving strategies:
- In the New Bern area, The earlier you can reserve a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The best vacation homes are booked early. Booking your vacation home six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation home.
- To find the best value, consider shifting your group's vacation dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer warmer weather, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer.
- Some property managers offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. Ask your host or property manager if discounts are available for your group.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer their guests an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Find a copy of your local New Bern area magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitor guide magazines contain coupons for local tours, shops, and attractions.
Use filters to narrow your rental search:
- Select a group leader, select your trip dates, and choose a spending budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration you need. Cloudburner West, Oceanfront Duplex in Emerald Isle, NC! has 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is often available on booking websites. Otherwise, reach out to the property owner before you book your home. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds. You'll need to establish what is best for your vacation family.
- Remember to include your furry companions! Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional fees or charges could be applied to your invoice.
- Is your family looking for specific amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters with amenity lists.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental
More considerations:
- Put the owner's contact information in your smartphone.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, television set or kitchen appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent a lot of difficulties.
- Keep the property locked while you're gone! Don't let crooks spoil your trip.
- At Check-in, document any damages to the property and immediately alert the owner. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are an excellent resource to find the best local scenic spots.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Re-check the property to make sure that you've packed all of your belongings on check-out day. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the rental one final time and look for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the host is not available, take photographs of the rental to record its condition.
- Did your group have a fantastic time? Most rental management companies make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your property and/or property manager was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was amiss and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
