Strategies to get the perfect vacation property experience:
Finding your best deal:
- Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer vacation rentals during holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer months are high season in Emerald Isle. To find the best value, consider shifting your vacation to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer excellent temperatures, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager if your group qualifies for a price reduction.
- Booking websites usually offer guests an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for additional information.
- Find a copy of your local New Bern visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitor guides have money saving offers on nearby tours and attractions.
Planning and picking your New Bern vacation home:
- Select your dates and max budget.
- Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Cozy beach condo in Emerald Isle, NC has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed types is generally accessible online. If you don't see them listed, call the property management company before booking the vacation property. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- If your group is vacationing with pets, you'll need to book a pet-friendly vacation rental. Make sure to ask for details on breed, size, and type restrictions. Often, property owners charge pet deposits and fees.
- Looking for unique amenities? Most rental websites include amenity lists and search filters. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
Additional considerations:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Save the instructions to your phone, and take a printed copy.
- Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Protect the rental owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are out, just like you would at home.
- During check-in, record any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the owner. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Be a good neighbor. Often times, nearby homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Just prior to departing, complete a walk-through to make sure you have not forget anything. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
