SAFE NEIGHBORHOOD: Guest suite is located in the of a safe, private, neighborhood.

PRIVATE CUL-DE-SAC LOT: Suite is on first floor of a single-family home located on a wooded, cul-de-sac lot which limits the view to neighboring homes. The home is adjacent to a park, so it is not uncommon see a variety of birds, deer, and other wildlife.

WALK OR BIKE TO EVERYWHERE: Emerald Isle has broad walking and bicycle paths, so you can get just about anywhere on the island without a car if you savor traveling on foot or bicycle.

HALF-MILE FROM BEACH: Located 1/2 mile from the beach (3 min. bicycle ride, 7 min. power walk, 15 mins. for turtles).

HALF-MILE FROM PARK: There is a nature park within a half-mile walk of our home. They have walking paths to the sound, a kayak launch, modest pier for fishing, frisbee golf, bathroom facilities when available.

RESTAURANTS / SHOPS: There are also multiple eateries and stores within a 1/2 mile and many more within a mile. You can use the bicycles to ride to the local beach and to many other places on the island. There is a beach, a park, eateries and stores within about a half-mile of our home. Nearly everything on the island is within 3 miles of our home. We have two beach cruiser bicycles which you may use at your own risk with a signed waiver (be especially careful during the busy summer). There is car parking available for the public beaches (sometimes there is a parking fee on weekends during the summer). Uber is also available on the island.

Emerald Isle is home to this vacation home. Croatan National Forest and Hammocks Beach State Park reflect the area's natural beauty and area attractions include Salty Pirate Water Park and Emerald Forest Golf. Emerald Isle Adventures and The Sweet Spot are also worth visiting.

• Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
• Booking in the Fall or Spring is our favorite way to save money on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable homes.
• Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host if your group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
• Property managers usually offer customers an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. • Are you visiting for a specific event? Try a map search to locate nearby properties.

• Go through the rental one final time and keep an eye out for damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can. If the host isn't available, take pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
• Did your family have a terrific time? Most rental managers make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or host was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was out of order and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
