Strategies to get the perfect rental home experience:
How to get the best rental home value:
- In the New Bern area, The earlier you can book a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The best vacation homes are booked early. Reserving your vacation rental up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and book your vacation rental.
- Summer months are high season in Emerald Isle. To get the most suitable rental home within budget, we strongly suggest booking in Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at your favorite restaurants and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host whether your group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Booking websites typically offer renters an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply New Bern area visitors guide magazines that include money-saving deals, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Filter your rental search:
- Start by choosing your the best vacation week and a budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your group requires. Beautiful Ocean & Sound Views! Luxury Vacation with In Ground Private Pool! has 9 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is almost always available on booking websites. Otherwise, reach out to the host before booking the rental. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds. You'll need to establish what bed configuration is best for your trip.
- Are you bringing the family pet? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement! Pet fees or charges could be applied to your agreement.
- If there's a certain New Bern attraction you are enamored with, look for properties that are either near by, or those that cater to your requirements.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking.
Tips for your stay:
- Get the host's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property. Put the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, stereo or kitchen appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent a lot of problems.
- Lock your vacation home while you're out. Protect your property!
- Note any issues with the rental at check in, and immediately contact the host. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be useful if a dispute arises.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Frequently, nearby homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking policies is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- At departure, complete a final walk-through to make sure you have not forget any personal items. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did you have a terrific vacation? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your property and/or property manager was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
