Tricks and tips to get the best Emerald Isle rental experience:
When to visit Emerald Isle & When to reserve a rental home:
- In the New Bern area, The earlier you can book, the easier your search will be. The best vacation homes are booked very early. Booking your rental property up to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and book your rental.
- To book the largest vacation home within your budget, we highly recommend reserving in Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at popular attractions and restaurants. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- Some owners offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your group.
- Management companies and individual rental owners often offer customers an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for specifics.
- Find a copy of your local New Bern area magazine when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitors guide magazines contain coupons for nearby tours and attractions.
Finding the perfect vacation rental in the New Bern area:
- Select dates and max budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration you need. Beautiful Ocean & Sound Views! Luxury Vacation with In Ground Private Pool! has 9 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our New Bern rentals search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is normally available online. If they are not listed, call the host before reserving your rental. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- If your group is bringing pets, you will need a rental that allows animals. Ask for information on breed, size, and type requirements. Note that some hosts charge additional pet fees.
- Visiting for a single attraction? If so, use a map search to browse nearby properties.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. .
More tips for your visit:
- Add the owner's phone number to your phone. Take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, elevator or washer/dryer. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents a lot of problems.
- Lock your vacation home while you're away. Keep your property safe!
- Upon arrival, note any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the owner. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful visitors disrupting your peaceful home. Use the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and places you would've not otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the property to make sure you've collected all of your things. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the property one final time and scan for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, remember to take video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did you have a fantastic vacation? Most rental management companies make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your property and/or host was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was defective and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
