Tricks and tips to get the very best New Bern vacation property experience:
Sticking to a rental budget:
- In the New Bern area, The earlier you can book a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental properties are booked very early. Booking your vacation home up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and book your vacation home.
- Summer is high season in the New Bern area. To get the best value, shift your vacation dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer great weather, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host if your family qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Booking websites frequently offer renters an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Many rental management companies supply New Bern area travel guides which often include special offers, either offered independently by local companies, or through a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Selecting the perfect rental home:
- Select a group lead, select your vacation dates, and choose a max budget.
- Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Oceanfront with heated private pool (optional),beach access, close to town center has 9 bedrooms and 7 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts is normally accessible on booking websites. If not, contact the host before reserving the home. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to establish what bed configuration is right for your group.
- If your family is bringing pets, filter your search for a pet-friendly property. Make sure to ask for specifics on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Usually, hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
- Are you visiting for a single event? If so, use a map search to find nearby properties.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking
Advice for a fantastic stay:
- Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Add a note with the instructions to your smartphone, and take a printed copy.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, elevator or WIFI setup. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent many problems.
- Protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home while you are away, just like you would at home.
- To ensure that no damages are attributed to your stay, make a record of any problem areas when you arrive. Make contact with the rental manager immediately to relay any issues. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be an incredible resource to find the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the rental to reconfirm you've collected all of your things. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did you have a great vacation? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or host was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was imperfect and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
