Tips and Tricks to get the optimal New Bern vacation home experience:
When to book & When to go:
- Summertime is the most expensive season in Emerald Isle. Book your rental property in Fall or Spring months to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer vacations during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Some owners offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your family before you book.
- Booking websites often offer guests an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
- Look for your local visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitors guide magazines contain coupons for nearby shops and restaurants.
Choosing and booking the best New Bern rental home:
- Choose dates and maximum budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family needs. AfterDune Shade at Emerald Isle has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is almost always accessible on booking pages. If they are not listed, reach out to the property management company before booking the vacation property. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to determine what configuration is suitable for your family.
- Looking for specific amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters with amenity lists. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the best rental.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. .
- If your family is traveling with pets, you'll need to search for a pet-friendly rental. Get details on breed, size, and type requirements. Some property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.
Know before you go:
- Take a copy of the property manager's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental.
- Make a record of any issues with the property at check in, and immediately contact the property manager. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be very helpful if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or kitchen appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents many issues.
- Be respectful. Often times, nearby homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can usually help. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Keep your rental home locked while you are away! Don't let thieves ruin your family vacation.
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected all personal belongings. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the property a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the property manager is not available, take pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Remember to leave feedback! Property owners rely on good feedback to compel new reservations. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will will be grateful for your review and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
