Tricks and tips to get the optimal New Bern vacation property experience:
Sticking to a spending budget:
- Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer vacations during holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer months are high season in the New Bern area. Booking in the Spring or Fall is a great way to save money on your vacation. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable properties. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host whether your family qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Property management companies frequently offer customers an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Often, management companies supply New Bern area travel guides that include special deals, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Make a plan and choose the best New Bern rental home:
- Select a designated group leader, choose your dates, and choose a spending budget.
- Note the number beds and the bed configuration you need. Oceans 2-Oceanfront Townhome has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is commonly available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email the property manager before reserving the rental. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to establish what configuration is right for your vacation.
- Some rental properties allow pets, and others don't. Acceptable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask your host about pet restrictions before booking.
- Are you visiting for a specific attraction or event? Try a map search to find nearby rentals.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking
Some things to know before you go:
- We recommend storing the owner's contact information in your smartphone.
- Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Keep the property locked while you're out! Don't let burglars spoil your holiday.
- Make a record of any damages to the property upon arrival, and immediately contact the property manager. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are valuable if a dispute arises.
- Respect your neighbors. Often times, adjacent homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Re-check every room of the rental property to make sure that you've packed all of your belongings at check-out. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- After your trip, leave a review! Property owners rely on great ratings to inspire more bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will be thankful you shared your experience find their best vacation rental. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
