Tips to get the perfect New Bern vacation property experience:
Find your perfect vacation home:
- In the New Bern area, The sooner your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation homes are reserved early. Booking your rental property six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and book your rental property.
- Summertime is the most expensive season in coastal NC. Reserve your vacation in Spring or Fall to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- Property management companies sometimes offer promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Ask your property manager if discounts are available for your family.
- Booking websites frequently offer guests an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Find a copy of your local New Bern visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitor guides contain money saving offers on local tours, shops, and attractions.
How to choose and book your prefectrental:
- Choose your dates and budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. One More Drift- Sound Front Home in Atlantic Beach, NC has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts is often accessible online. If they are not listed, reach out to the property management company before booking the vacation home. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- If your group is bringing pets, you will need a pet-friendly property. Ask for details on breed, weight, and type requirements. Some property owners charge additional pet fees.
- Visiting for a specific event? If so, use a map search to browse nearby properties.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental
More considerations for your visit:
- Add the owner's phone number to your smartphone. Take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, television set or thermostat. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents a lot of concerns.
- Protect the rental owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are out, just like you would at home.
- Make a record of any damages to the property upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be useful if a dispute is filed.
- Be a good neighbor. Often, adjacent homes are filled by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Double-check the rental property to confirm that you've packed all of your family's items at check-out. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- After your trip, leave a review! Property managers rely on excellent ratings to drive more reservations. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will will be grateful for your review find their best rental home. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
