Tips and Tricks to get the perfect New Bern vacation property experience:
Money saving strategies:
- Summertime is the most expensive season along the coast of NC. To get the most suitable rental within your budget, we recommend reserving in the Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at the beach and popular attractions. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- The earlier you can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The best rental properties are reserved very early. Booking your rental 6-12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation rental.
- Some property managers offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. Ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your group.
- Property management companies usually offer renters an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for additional information.
- Look for your local visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local stories, visitor guides contain discounts for local restaurants, attractions, and tours.
Finding the perfect rental:
- Begin by selecting the best vacation week and a spending budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your group needs. Pet Friendly House-Very Private-Just Off Ocean Ridge-1 Block to Beach\/Food\/Shops has 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed types is regularly available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, contact the property owner before you book the vacation home. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches.
- Visiting for a single event or attraction? Try a map search to browse nearby properties.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. .
- Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your agreement! Additional fees or charges could be applied to your invoice.
Considerations for your stay:
- Add the property manager's contact info to your phone. Take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- To make sure that damages aren't linked to your family's visit, make note of any problem areas upon your arrival. Make contact with the rental manager right away to report any damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, stereo or washer/dryer. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents lots of issues.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful vacationers disrupting your home life. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would've not otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can often help. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking the rental when you are out, just like you would at home.
- Upon check-out, complete a walk-through to confirm you did not leave anything behind. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Leave feedback! Property managers rely on good feedback to compel new reservations. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will appreciate that you share your experience find their best vacation home. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
