Tricks and tips to get the very best vacation property experience:
Find your best deal:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal NC. To get the most suitable vacation home within your budget, we recommend reserving in Fall or Spring months. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at popular attractions and restaurants.
- In the New Bern area, The sooner your group can reserve a home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation homes are booked very early. Booking your vacation home six - twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and book your rental home.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host whether your group qualifies for a special rate.
- Property management companies usually offer their guests an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Find a copy of your local New Bern visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitors guide magazines have coupons for nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.
Planning and choosing your prefectrental home:
- Choose dates and spending budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Oceanfront on Highly Sought After Ocean Ridge has 6 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our New Bern rentals search.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is normally accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, reach out to the property owner before booking the property. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to determine what is suitable for your vacation.
- Does your group require particular amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- Some properties allow pets, but others do not. Allowable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask your host about your furry family members before booking.
Considerations for your stay:
- Get the owner's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property. We recommend storing the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- To ensure that no damages are attributed to your visit, inspect the rental for any problem areas during check in. Contact the host right away to report any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, elevator or appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents many issues.
- Be a good neighbor. Often, surrounding homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking rules reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Keep the property locked while you are away! Don't let burglars spoil your holiday.
- Upon check-out, take a walk-through to make sure you haven't forget any personal items. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Walk through the rental one final time and look for damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, remember to take video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did you have a excellent time? Many rental websites make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your rental property and/or host was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was inoperable and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
