Strategies to get the very best vacation rental experience:

Finding the best rental value:

  • In the New Bern area, The earlier you can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental homes are reserved early. Booking your rental property up to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation rental.
  • June, July, and August are high season in the New Bern area. Reserve your vacation home in the Fall or Spring to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • Hosts sometimes offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your group.
  • Property managers typically offer renters an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for details.
  • Find a copy of your local visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitor guide magazines have money saving offers on local shops and restaurants.

Selecting the perfect vacation home:

  • Select a designated group leader, select your vacation dates, and select a maximum budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your family requires. Point Emerald A-208, Oceanfront Condo in Emerald Isle, NC! has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is usually accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, reach out to the property owner before booking the property. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches. You'll need to establish what configuration is right for your vacation.
  • If your group is bringing pets, you must reserve a property that allows animals. Make sure to ask for information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Be aware that some property owners charge pet deposits and fees.
  • Visiting for a single event or attraction? If so, use a map search to locate nearby properties.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental.

Additional considerations:

  • Store the host's information in your smartphone.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, A/V setup or washer/dryer. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent a lot of problems.
  • Keep your rental home locked while you are gone! Don't let crooks spoil your holiday.
  • To make sure damages aren't linked to your family's visit, inspect the property for any problem areas during check in. Call the host immediately to relay any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are a great source for finding the best local spots.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the rental to reconfirm you've collected all of your things. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Walk through the property a final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the property manager is not available, ensure that you take video and pictures of the property to record its condition.
  • Remember to leave a review! Hosts rely on great reviews to compel more reservations. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your review find their best vacation rental. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
