Emerald Isle vacation rental booking tips:
When to reserve a New Bern rental home & When to go:
- Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer vacation rentals during holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer is high season in Emerald Isle. To book the largest vacation home for your budget, we suggest booking in Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at popular New Bern attractions and restaurants.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager if your group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Property managers typically offer renters an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for additional information.
- Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply New Bern area travel guides which will include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Choosing and booking the bestrental:
- Select a group lead, choose your trip dates, and choose a maximum budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your family needs. Point Emerald A-208, Oceanfront Condo in Emerald Isle, NC! has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed types is often accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, contact the property owner before you reserve the home. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- If your family is bringing pets, you'll need to find a pet-friendly vacation rental. Get information on breed, size, and type restrictions. Some property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.
- If there's a particular New Bern attraction you simply love, look for properties that are either near by, or those that cater to your needs.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental.
Advice for a smooth stay:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Save the instructions to your smartphone, and take a printed copy.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, television set or appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents a lot of issues.
- Keep the property locked while you are gone! Don't let burglars spoil your trip.
- During arrival, note any issues with the property and immediately alert the host. Keep records of all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be a fantastic resource to find the best local spots.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Just before checking out, complete a final walk-through to make sure you haven't forget anything. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the property a final time and look for any damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the host isn't available, remember to take video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a wonderful vacation? Most rental home management companies make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or host was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
