New Bern vacation rental home tips:
Finding your perfect vacation home:
- To get the best value, consider changing your group's vacation week to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer warmer temperatures, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic.
- The sooner your group can book a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The best properties are booked very early. Reserving your rental 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation rental.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host whether your group qualifies for a discount.
- Property management companies usually offer guests an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Find a copy of your local New Bern visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local articles, travel guides contain discounts for local accommodations, tours and attractions.
How to choose and book the right New Bern rental:
- Select a group lead, select your trip dates, and select a budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Resort style living in small town Beaufort NC has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed types is regularly available on booking pages. Otherwise, call the host before reserving your home. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches. You'll need to work out what configuration is best for your vacation group.
- If there's a particular New Bern destination you love, browse homes that are either near by, or those that cater to your desires.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. .
- If your group is traveling with pets, you must reserve a property that allows animals. Request information on breed, size, and type requirements. Be aware that some property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.
More considerations:
- Be sure you get the host's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental.
- During arrival, record any damages to the property and immediately contact the owner. Record all coorespondence.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, stereo or WIFI setup. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents lots of difficulties.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be a fantastic resource to find the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Keep your rental home locked while you're out! Don't let thieves ruin your trip.
- Double-check the property to confirm that you've packed all of your family's items on check-out day. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your family have a terrific time? Many rental managers make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property management company was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was defective and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
