How to find the best Emerald Isle vacation property experience:

When to book & When to go:

  • To book the largest rental within budget, we recommend booking in the Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at the beach and popular New Bern attractions. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer rental homes during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
  • Booking websites usually offer guests an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for more information.
  • Find a copy of your local New Bern visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitors guide magazines have discounts for nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.

Planning, picking, and booking yourrental home:

  • First, have your family select dates and a spending budget.
  • Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Point Emerald B-103, Almost Oceanfront Condo in Emerald Isle, NC! has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is almost always available on booking pages. If they are not listed, reach out to the property manager before booking the home. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to establish what configuration is suitable for your vacation.
  • Is your group looking for special amenities? Most rental search websites include amenity lists and search filters.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. .
  • If your family is traveling with pets, you'll need to book a pet-friendly vacation rental. Make sure to ask for details on breed, weight, and type requirements. Be aware that some hosts charge pet deposits and fees.

Advice for your stay:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Save the instructions to your phone, and take a printed copy.
  • To make certain that damages aren't attributed to your visit, note any problem areas when you arrive. Contact the property manager right away to relay any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Be respectful of your neighbors. Often, nearby homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking rules reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can frequently help. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Lock your rental home while you are out. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected all personal belongings. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the rental one final time and keep an eye out for damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the host is not available, take photos and video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Remember to leave a review! Property managers rely on excellent ratings to stimulate more bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your review find their best rental home. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
