Strategies to get the best Emerald Isle rental home experience:
Sticking to your spending plan:
- June, July, and August are high season in Emerald Isle. Reserve your vacation home in Fall or Spring months to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer rental homes during holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Some hosts and property managers offer promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your host or property manager if rate reductions are available for your family before you book.
- Property managers usually offer guests an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for more information.
- Find a copy of your local New Bern area magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great information, travel guide magazines have deals for nearby attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
Finding the best vacation rental in the New Bern area:
- Choose a designated group leader, choose your trip dates, and choose a budget.
- Note the number beds and the configuration your group requires. Prime Location 2nd row!!! Beautiful beach views from the deck!! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is commonly accessible online. If not, contact the property owner before reserving the vacation property. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds.
- Looking for special amenities? Most websites include search filters for amenities. Use these filters to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking.
- Remember to include your furry companions! Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Pet fees or costs may be applied to your agreement.
More considerations:
- Be sure you get the property manager's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home.
- Upon check-in, make note of any issues with the property and immediately alert the host. Record all coorespondence.
- Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a fantastic source for finding the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can frequently help. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are gone, just like you would at home.
- Re-check the rental property to make sure that you've packed all of your belongings at departure. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Leave a review! Property managers rely on excellent reviews to stimulate future reservations. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other families will appreciate that you share your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
