Strategies to get the perfect New Bern rental home experience:

Finding the best value:

  • To book the largest rental within your budget, we suggest reserving in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll enjoy lower rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at popular attractions and restaurants.
  • Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer vacation rentals during holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Some hosts and property managers offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. Check with your host or property manager to see if discounts are available for your family.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer guests an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for specifics.
  • Look for your local New Bern visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitors guides have money saving offers on nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.

Filter your rental search:

  • Start by having your group decide on vacation dates and a spending budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your family needs. Rx Pad, Soundfront House in Emerald Isle, NC! has 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our New Bern vacation rental search.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is usually available online. If not, email or call the property owner before booking your home. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to establish what bed configuration is right for your group.
  • If there's a particular New Bern destination you simply love, browse properties that are either near by, or those that cater to your desires.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
  • Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your agreement! Extra fees or charges might be applied to your agreement.

Considerations for your stay:

  • Be sure you get the host's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your . We recommend storing the host's contact information in your smartphone.
  • During check-in, make note of any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the host. Keep records of all coorespondence.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, stereo or appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent quite a few difficulties.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be a terrific source for finding the best local scenic spots.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental when you are gone, just like you would at home.
  • At departure, take a walk-through to confirm you didn't forget any personal items. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did your group have a excellent stay? Many rental management companies make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property manager was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was defective and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
