Tips and Tricks to get the optimal New Bern vacation property experience:
Get the most from your vacation rental budget:
- The sooner you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation rentals are reserved early. Booking your rental home six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your rental.
- Booking a rental in the Spring or Fall is an excellent way to save on your vacation home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable homes. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- Property management companies sometimes offer discounts for veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if special discounts are available for your family.
- Booking websites usually offer renters an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for more information.
- Find a copy of your local New Bern visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitor guide magazines contain offers and deals for nearby accommodations and attractions.
Use filters to narrow your rental search:
- Select a group leader, choose your vacation week, and choose a budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group requires. Seaside Paws, Oceanfront Duplex in Emerald Isle, NC! has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed types is often accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property management company before you book the property. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to work out what bed configuration is optimal for your family.
- If your group is traveling with pets, filter your search for a property that allows animals. Ask for details on breed, weight, and type requirements. Often, hosts charge additional pet fees.
- Is your group looking for specific amenities? Most websites include search filters for amenities. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to ask about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
Know before you go:
- We recommend storing the host's contact information in your smartphone.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, intercom or WIFI setup. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents quite a few problems.
- Lock your vacation home while you're out and about. Protect your property!
- To ensure that damages aren't attributed to your family's stay, make a record of any problem areas during check in. Call the property manager right away to report any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay more pleasurable. You will magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be a great source for finding the best local beaches and restaurants.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Just prior to departing, take a final walk-through to make sure you haven't leave anything behind. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the rental one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the property manager isn't available, take photos of the rental to record its condition.
- Did you have a excellent vacation? Many rental managers make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or host was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
