  • Get the owner's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental property.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, intercom or thermostat. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent a lot of difficulties.
  • Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are out, just like you would at home.
  • Make a record of any issues with the property at check in, and immediately send them to the owner. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are beneficial if a dispute is filed.
  • Be respectful. Often, surrounding homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Double-check the rental property to confirm that you've packed all personal items at departure. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the property a final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest walking through with the host whenever possible. If the manager is not available, take pictures of the rental to record its condition.
  • Did you have a wonderful time? Many rental management companies make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property manager was wonderful, they would love to hear it.
