Our top Beaufort vacation rental booking tips:
Sticking to a rental home budget:
- Summertime is the most expensive season along the coast of NC. Booking in Spring or Fall is an excellent way to save on your vacation rental. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable properties. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer.
- Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rentals during holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host whether your family qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Property management companies often offer renters an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally costs 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for details.
- Many management companies supply New Bern area visitor guide magazines which often include special deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Filter your rental search:
- First, have your group commit to the best dates and a max budget.
- Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Starfish DOG-FRiENDLY in the Historic District has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is usually available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, call the host before you reserve your rental. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to determine which bed configuration is best for your family.
- If there's a specific New Bern attraction you long to visit, look for homes that are either nearby, or those that cater to your desires.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking
- Traveling with pets? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Extra fees or costs might be applied to your contract.
More considerations:
- Take a copy of the property manager's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your .
- To make sure that no damages are attributed to your stay, make note of any problem areas when you arrive. Call the rental manager right away to relay your findings. If there is a dispute, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be useful.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or washer/dryer. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents quite a few issues.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. You will enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be a great resource to find the best local beaches and restaurants.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property while you are gone, just like you would back home.
- Just prior to departing, complete a final walk-through to make sure you haven't forget any personal items. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Property owners rely on great feedback to compel more reservations. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your review find their best rental home. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
