Tricks and tips for getting the perfect rental experience:
Finding the best value:
- Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer rentals during Winter holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Book your rental in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host if your vacationing group qualifies for a discount.
- Property management companies frequently offer guests an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
- Look for your local visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, travel guides contain discounts for nearby accommodations and attractions.
Narrow your Search:
- Choose your vacation dates and maximum budget.
- Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your family requires. Point Prospect Shores- Ocean Front Condo has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts is often available on booking websites. If not, email the property manager before you book your home. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches. You'll need to work out what bed configuration is optimal for your vacation family.
- If your family is vacationing with pets, you must book a pet-friendly rental. Get specifics on breed, size, and type requirements. Some hosts charge additional pet fees.
- Are you visiting for a specific event or attraction? Try a map search to find nearby rentals.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Remember to confirm all required amenities are included before booking
Tips for a smooth stay:
- Take a copy of the property manager's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, television set or washer/dryer. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent lots of difficulties.
- Protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the rental while you are away, just like you would at home.
- At Check-in, record any damages to the property and immediately alert the owner. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Be a good neighbor. Frequently, adjacent homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking policies is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected everything. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Leave feedback! Property owners rely on excellent ratings to inspire more bookings. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your feedback find their best rental home. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
