Tips and Tricks to get the optimal rental home experience:
Get the most from your budget:
- Summer months are high season in Pine Knoll Shores. To find the best value, change your group's vacation week to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer warmer weather, , and greatly reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often open a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Some owners offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Ask your property manager if special offers are available for your family.
- Booking websites usually offer customers an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly costs between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Look for your local New Bern visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, travel guides contain coupons for local accommodations and attractions.
Use filters to narrow your search:
- Select your vacation week and budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration you need. Point Prospect Shores- Ocean Front Condo has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is almost always available online. Otherwise, email or call the property owner before you reserve the vacation home. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to establish what is optimal for your vacation family.
- If there's a particular New Bern beach you love, look for properties that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your needs.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental.
- If your family is traveling with pets, you must reserve a pet-friendly rental. Request specifics on breed, size, and type restrictions. Usually, property owners charge pet deposits and fees.
Tips for your stay:
- Be sure you get the owner's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your .
- To ensure that damages aren't linked to your family's visit, make a record of any problem areas during check in. Get in touch with the property manager right away to relay any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or washer/dryer. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent quite a few concerns.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are a great source for finding the best local attractions.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental while you are away, just like you would back home.
- On check-out day, take a final walk-through to make sure you haven't leave anything behind. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Walk through the property one final time and scan for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the host is not available, remember to take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a terrific stay? Many rental websites make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your rental and/or host was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was wrong and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
