How to get the best vacation rental experience:
How to get the best rental home value:
- June, July, and August are high season in the New Bern area. To find the best value, change your family's New Bern trip dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer warmer temperatures, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic.
- Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Some property management companies offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if special discounts are available for your group.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer renters an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for additional information.
- Often, management companies supply New Bern area visitor guide magazines that include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Selecting and booking a perfect New Bern rental home:
- Choose vacation dates and budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your family requires. Stunning water views, walk to beach! 2 bed, 2 bath, condo on the Bogue sound. has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is normally accessible online. If not, email the property management company before reserving your rental. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to establish what is best for your trip.
- Visiting for a single event or attraction? If so, use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
- If your family is vacationing with pets, you will need a pet-friendly vacation rental. Make sure to ask for specifics on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Be aware that some hosts charge additional pet fees.
More tips for your stay:
- We recommend storing the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
- To make sure damages are not linked to your visit, inspect the property for any problem areas upon check in. Speak to the host immediately to relay any issues. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, intercom or appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent quite a few concerns.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are an excellent source for finding the best local beaches and restaurants.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can often help. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Lock your rental property while you're out! Don't let burglars ruin your family vacation.
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the rental to make sure you've collected all belongings. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did you have a fantastic stay? Most rental home management companies make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your property and/or property management company was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
