It is about 30-40 mins. from Emerald Isle or Atlantic Beach. The aquarium is fun to visit, historic downtown New Bern, Tryon Palace, and the impressive riverfront. Our top New Bern vacation rental booking tips:
How to get the best value:
- The sooner you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation homes are booked early. Reserving your rental six - twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and book your rental.
- Summer is the most expensive season in New Bern. Booking in Fall or Spring months is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation rental. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable homes. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer customers an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
- Many property management companies and vacation rental houses supply New Bern area travel guide magazines which will include special offers, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
How to choose and book the perfect New Bern rental home:
- Choose a designated group leader, select your trip dates, and select a budget.
- Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your group requires. Sunflower Smile has 3 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is usually available online. If you don't see them listed, contact the property management company before you book the rental. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds.
- Remember to include your furry companions! Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional fees or costs might be applied to your invoice.
- Visiting for a single event? If so, use a map search to browse nearby properties.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental.
More considerations for your visit:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the instructions to your phone.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, stereo or kitchen appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent a lot of problems.
- Keep your rental home locked while you are gone! Don't let crooks spoil your trip.
- Note any damages to the rental upon arrival, and immediately contact the owner. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are useful if a dispute is filed.
- Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Frequently, nearby homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- On check-out day, take a final walk-through to confirm you didn't forget anything. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the property one final time and scan for any damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can. If the host isn't available, remember to take pictures of the property to record its condition.
- Leave a review! Property managers rely on great ratings to propel more bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
