Getting the best New Bern vacation property experience:
Money saving strategies:
- Summertime is high season in the New Bern area. Book your New Bern vacation home in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer.
- Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacations during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host if your group qualifies for a price reduction.
- Property management companies frequently offer their guests an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for specifics.
- Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply New Bern area visitors guides that include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Planning and picking the right New Bern rental home:
- Start by having your group choose trip dates and a maximum budget.
- Determine how many beds and the configuration your group requires. Take Me A Wave - Pier Pointe 7A2, Emerald Isle, Oceanview, poolside second floor has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our New Bern rentals search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is generally accessible online. If you don't see them listed, email the host before reserving the property. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to determine what bed configuration is best for your vacation.
- Are you looking for unique amenities? Most rental websites include amenity lists and search filters.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental.
- If your group is bringing pets, you'll need to search for a pet-friendly property. Get specifics on breed, size, and type restrictions. Note that some property owners charge additional pet fees.
Have a fantastic stay:
- Take a copy of the owner's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property.
- To ensure that no damages are linked to your family's stay, make a record of any problem areas upon check in. Make contact with the rental manager immediately to report any issues. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, elevator or WIFI setup. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents a lot of problems.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often a terrific resource to find the best local scenic spots.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can frequently help. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Lock your vacation home while you are away. Protect your property!
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected everything. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the property one final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the host is not available, remember to take video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a wonderful stay? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property management company was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was imperfect and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
