Tips to get the optimal New Bern vacation home experience:

How to get the best value:

  • Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • To book the largest rental home within your budget, we suggest booking in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at New Bern restaurants, beaches, and activities.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host whether your group qualifies for a discount.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer customers an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for specifics.
  • Look for your local New Bern visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great information, visitors guide magazines have offers and deals for local accommodations and attractions.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • Choose a group leader, choose your vacation dates, and select a max budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. Traigh Point: Oceanview and Soundview, 4BR, 3.5BA, Elevator! has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is generally accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, email or call the property management company before you book your home. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds in living rooms.
  • Traveling with pets? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your agreement! Additional pet fees or applied to your agreement.
  • Are you visiting for a specific attraction or event? Try a map search to find nearby properties.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. .

Advice for your stay:

  • Get the property manager's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your . Put the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Lock your rental home while you're out. Keep your property safe!
  • To make certain that damages are not linked to your family's stay, record any problem areas upon check in. Call the rental manager right away to record your findings. If there is a dispute, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious visitors disrupting your quiet neighborhood. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and attractions you would have not otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Re-check the rental property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings on check-out day. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the rental one final time and look for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the manager is not available, take photos and video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your family have a terrific time? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your rental and/or property management company was fantastic, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was defective and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
