Our top Pine Knoll Shores vacation rental tips and tricks:

Getting the most from your spending budget:

  • Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer rental homes during Winter holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summertime is high season in the New Bern area. To book the best rental within your budget, we highly recommend reserving in the Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at New Bern restaurants, tours, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners often offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for additional information.
  • Often, property management companies supply New Bern area visitor guide magazines that include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

How to pick the best rental in Pine Knoll Shores:

  • Are you visiting for a specific attraction or event? Use a map search to browse nearby properties.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. .

Advice for a terrific stay:

  • Put the host's contact information in your smartphone.
  • Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Keep the property locked while you are gone! Don't let burglars spoil your holiday.
  • To make sure that damages aren't attributed to your visit, inspect the property for any problem areas upon your arrival. Contact the host immediately to document your findings. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud visitors bothering your peaceful neighborhood. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and places you would have not otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the property to confirm you've collected all personal items. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the rental a final time and look for any damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can. If the host is not available, ensure that you take video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Leave feedback! Hosts rely on great ratings to compel more bookings. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other families will appreciate that you share your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
