How to book the best rental experience:
Getting the most from your budget:
- Summertime is the most expensive season in coastal NC. Booking your New Bern vacation rental in Fall or Spring is a great way to save on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable properties.
- Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer promotional rates for veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special discounts are available for your group.
- Management companies and individual rental owners often offer their guests an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Look for your local visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great information, travel guide magazines contain money saving offers on nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.
How to pick the perfect vacation home in the New Bern area:
- Begin by choosing trip dates and a spending budget.
- Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Seacluded Tree House, Oceanfront House in Pine Knoll Shores, NC! has 5 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is generally available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property manager before booking the vacation property. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to establish what is suitable for your vacation family.
- Visiting for a single event or attraction? Try a map search to browse nearby rentals.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. .
- If your family is bringing pets, search for a property that allows animals. Ask for information on breed, size, and type requirements. Note that some property managers charge additional pet fees.
Advice for a wonderful stay:
- Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the directions to your smartphone.
- Upon arrival, make note of any issues with the property and immediately contact the host. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually an excellent resource to find the best local scenic spots.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Keep your rental home locked while you are away! Don't let thieves ruin your family vacation.
- Re-check every room of the vacation property to confirm that you've packed everything at departure. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the rental one final time and look for any damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, remember to take photos of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did you have a wonderful vacation? Many rental home management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property management company was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
