Tricks and tips for getting the perfect vacation rental experience:
Money saving strategies:
- June, July, and August are high season in Emerald Isle. Booking a rental in Spring or Fall is our best tip for saving money on your vacation home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable homes. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season.
- The earlier your group can book, the easier your search will be. The best rental homes are booked very early. Booking your rental home six - twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental.
- Hosts sometimes offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your group.
- Booking websites typically offer renters an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Many property management companies and vacation rental houses supply New Bern area visitor guides which will include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
How to pick the perfect vacation rental in Emerald Isle:
- Select your dates and max budget.
- Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your group requires. Pebble Beach C204, 3BR Condo ~ OCEAN VIEWS! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is regularly available online. If they are not listed, call the host before you reserve your home. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to determine what configuration is suitable for your family.
- If there's a specific New Bern attraction you are enamored with, search for rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your desires.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all required amenities are available before booking
- Some rental properties allow pets, but some don't. Allowable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the host about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
Additional considerations:
- Put the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- To ensure that damages are not attributed to your visit, inspect the property for any problem areas during check in. E-mail the host immediately to relay any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful vacationers disrupting your quiet neighborhood. Employ the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and attractions you would have never otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Keep the property locked while you're away! Don't let crooks ruin your holiday.
- At departure, complete a walk-through to confirm you haven't forget anything. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the rental a final time and look for any damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, remember to take photos and video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- After your trip, leave a review! Hosts rely on great feedback to stimulate future bookings. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your feedback find their best vacation rental. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
