Emerald Isle rental booking tips and tricks:

Find your perfect vacation home:

  • Summer time is high season in Emerald Isle. Booking a rental in Fall or Spring months is our favorite way to save money on your vacation rental. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable homes.
  • The earlier your group can book a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation homes are booked early. Booking your rental up to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation rental.
  • Property managers sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans. Check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your group before you book.
  • Booking websites typically offer customers an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
  • Look for your local New Bern visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great information, travel guides have coupons for local tours and attractions.

Selecting the perfect rental home:

  • Select a group lead, choose your trip dates, and select a maximum budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your group needs. Pebble Beach C204, 3BR Condo ~ OCEAN VIEWS! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is often available on booking pages. If they are not listed, reach out to the host before booking your rental. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds and bunks.
  • Are you visiting for a specific attraction or event? If so, use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. .
  • Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Extra fees or applied to your agreement.

Advice for your stay:

  • We recommend storing the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Note any issues with the rental during check in, and immediately contact the host. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are helpful if a dispute arises.
  • Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Respect the neighborhood. Often times, surrounding homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental when you are away, just like you would at home.
  • On check-out day, complete a walk-through to make sure you have not forget any personal items. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the property a final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the host isn't available, remember to take photographs of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Leave a review! Property owners rely on good feedback to propel future bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
