Tricks and tips for getting the best Emerald Isle rental experience:
When to book a New Bern rental home & When to go:
- Summer months are high season in the New Bern area. To find the best value, try shifting your vacation dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer great temperatures, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer rentals during Winter holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host whether your group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Property management companies often offer customers an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for additional information.
- Look for your local New Bern visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, travel guide magazines contain discounts for local tours, shops, and attractions.
Planning and picking the bestvacation home:
- Select a group lead, choose your vacation week, and select a spending budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Well maintained 4 bed\/4 bath house in quiet area has 4 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, contact the property management company before reserving the rental. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds.
- Looking for unique amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters with amenity lists. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all required amenities are available before booking.
- Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your rental agreement! Extra fees or costs applied to your invoice.
More tips for your stay:
- Get the host's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental.
- To ensure that damages are not attributed to your family's stay, inspect for any problem areas upon your arrival. Speak to the host immediately to document any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, elevator or coffee maker. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent lots of difficulties.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious vacationers disrupting your peaceful home. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and attractions you would've not otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Lock your vacation home while you're out and about. Keep your property safe!
- Double-check the property to confirm that you've packed all belongings on check-out day. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your family have a excellent stay? Most rental home management companies make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your rental and/or property management company was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
