Our top Vacation rental booking tips:
When to go & When to reserve a Emerald Isle rental home:
- In the New Bern area, The earlier you can reserve a home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are reserved very early. Reserving your rental up to 12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and book your rental property.
- Summertime is the most expensive season in coastal NC. To get the best value, change your vacation dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer pleasant temperatures, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Some property managers offer discounts for veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if special discounts are available for your family.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer renters an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for more information.
- Many property management companies and vacation rental houses supply New Bern area travel guides that include coupons, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Make a plan and choose the right New Bern rental:
- Select a group leader, choose your trip dates, and choose a budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family requires. Beautiful Sunsets, Wide Beach and You Can Bring Your Dog! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our New Bern rental home search.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed types is almost always available on booking websites. If they are not listed, email the property manager before reserving the vacation property. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds.
- Some rentals allow pets, but others do not. Allowable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the property manager about allowable breeds and types before booking.
- Does your group require special amenities? Most rental websites include amenity lists and search filters. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental
During your stay:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Save the directions to your phone, and take a printed copy.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or thermostat. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents a lot of concerns.
- Lock your vacation home while you're out. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
- To make certain that damages are not linked to your family's visit, note any problem areas when you arrive. E-mail the host immediately to document any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud vacationers disrupting your home life. Use the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would have never otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Re-check the property to confirm that you've packed all belongings at check-out. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Remember to leave feedback! Property managers rely on great reviews to propel future bookings. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationers will will be grateful for your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
