Strategies to get the optimal rental home experience:

Find your perfect rental:

  • Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rental homes during Winter holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summer time is high season in Beaufort. To find the best value, shift your family's New Bern vacation week to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer pleasant temperatures, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
  • Some property management companies offer rate reductions for veterans. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your family.
  • Booking websites often offer their guests an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for details.
  • Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply New Bern area travel guides which often include special offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Filter your rental search:

  • Select vacation week and spending budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the configuration your family needs. 3 bedroom home in coastal resort community. Amenities ++ has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is almost always available on booking pages. If they are not listed, reach out to the property manager before you reserve the property. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds in living rooms.
  • If your group is vacationing with pets, you must reserve a pet-friendly vacation rental. Make sure to ask for information on breed, size, and type restrictions. Note that some hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.
  • If there's an individual New Bern attraction you are crazy about, keep an eye out for properties that are either nearby, or those that cater to your desires.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental.

Considerations for your stay:

  • Store the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Ensure you protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home while you are out, just like you would back home.
  • To ensure that damages aren't linked to your family's visit, inspect the property for any problem areas upon your arrival. Speak to the host immediately to record your findings. If there is a dispute, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Respect the neighborhood. Often times, adjacent homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected all personal belongings. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did your group have a wonderful stay? Many rental management companies make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your rental and/or host was fantastic, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was wrong and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
