Tips to get the perfect New Bern rental home experience:

Sticking to a spending plan:

  • In the New Bern area, The earlier your group can reserve a home, the easier your search will be. The best vacation homes are booked early. Booking your vacation home 6-12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and book your vacation home.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Beaufort. To find the best rental within your budget, we highly recommend booking in Fall or Spring months. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at local restaurants, tours, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host whether your group qualifies for a reduced rate.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer renters an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
  • Many management companies supply New Bern area visitor guide magazines which often include money-saving offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Selecting and booking your New Bern rental home:

  • Start by selecting potential vacation weeks and a spending budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your family requires. Front St. Waterfront Cottage with Private Dock, Views, Walk to historic town has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our New Bern rentals search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is regularly available online. If not, email the property management company before reserving your rental. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms.
  • If your group is vacationing with pets, you'll need to search for a rental that allows animals. Ask for specifics on breed, size, and type restrictions. Often, hosts charge additional pet fees.
  • Are you visiting for a single attraction or event? If so, use a map search to find nearby rentals.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. .

Some things to know before you go:

  • Be sure you get the host's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home. Put the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, elevator or thermostat. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent quite a few difficulties.
  • Lock your rental home while you're out and about. Protect your property!
  • During arrival, note any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the owner. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious vacationers disrupting your peaceful home. Use the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and places you would have never otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Just prior to departing, complete a final walk-through to make sure you haven't leave anything behind. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the rental a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the host is not available, remember to take photos and video of the rental to record its condition.
  • Did you have a wonderful stay? Most rental managers make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property manager was fantastic, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was inoperable and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
