How to find the best New Bern rental home experience:

When to reserve a New Bern rental & When to go:

  • June, July, and August are high season in New Bern. Book your New Bern vacation home in Spring or Fall to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities.
  • Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host if your group qualifies for a special rate.
  • Property managers usually offer customers an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for details.
  • Many property management companies supply New Bern area visitor guide magazines that include money-saving offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Use filters to narrow your rental search:

  • Start by selecting potential vacation weeks and a max budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your family requires. Nice 2 BR Cottage Near Downtown WIFI and Kitchen\n\n has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is normally available on booking websites. If not, email or call the property management company before reserving your rental. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds.
  • Visiting for a single attraction or event? Try a map search to find nearby properties.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental.
  • Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your agreement! Additional fees or costs may be applied to your agreement.

Additional considerations:

  • Be sure you get the owner's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental.
  • Record any issues with the rental at check in, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are useful if there is a dispute.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, television set or appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent quite a few problems.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are a great resource to find the best local beaches.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Lock your rental property while you are gone! Don't let burglars spoil your trip.
  • Re-check the property to make sure that you've packed all personal items at check-out. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Leave a review! Hosts rely on great ratings to drive new reservations. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your experience find their best rental home. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
