Strategies to get the perfect New Bern vacation property experience:

Finding the best rental home value:

  • In the New Bern area, The sooner your group can book a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental properties are reserved very early. Reserving your rental home up to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation home.
  • Summertime is the most expensive season in coastal NC. Booking in Spring or Fall is a great way to save on your vacation home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable properties.
  • Some property management companies offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if rate reductions are available for your group before you book.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners often offer customers an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for specifics.
  • Many management companies supply New Bern area travel guides that include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Selecting and booking a perfect New Bern rental home:

  • Start by having your family decide on a vacation week and a spending budget.
  • Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. HOT SUMMER DEAL! 3 NIGHT MINIMUM TO STAY WHERE THERE ALOT OF FUN AMENITIES! has 1 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually accessible online. If they are not listed, reach out to the host before reserving your rental. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to determine what is right for your group.
  • If your group is traveling with pets, you'll need to find a pet-friendly vacation rental. Make sure to ask for details on breed, weight, and type requirements. Often, property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.
  • Are you visiting for a single event? If so, use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking.

Advice for a wonderful stay:

  • Add the host's phone number to your phone. Understand and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property when you are gone, just like you would at home.
  • To ensure that no damages are attributed to your family's visit, make a record of any problem areas upon check in. Contact the host immediately to record any damages. If there is a dispute, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often times, surrounding homes are filled by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can often help. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Upon check-out, take a final walk-through to confirm you haven't leave anything behind. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did you have a fantastic vacation? Most rental managers make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property manager was fantastic, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
