Our top Rental home booking tips:
Get the most from your vacation rental budget:
- Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rental homes during Winter holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Reserving a rental home in Spring or Fall is an excellent way to save money on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable properties. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Property management companies sometimes offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your group before you book.
- Booking websites typically offer customers an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly costs 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for details.
- Find a copy of your local New Bern area magazine upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitor guides contain offers and deals for nearby accommodations and attractions.
Choosing the best vacation home in the New Bern area:
- Select your vacation dates and spending budget.
- Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Ocean\/Sound View Condo Near Beach with WiFi, Private Deck, & W\/D - Dog-Friendly has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our New Bern rental home search.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is generally accessible online. If not, email the property owner before booking the vacation property. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds.
- Some properties allow pets, but others do not. Acceptable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the property management company about pets before booking.
- Are you looking for unique amenities? Most rental websites include search filters for amenities. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the perfect rental.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. .
Considerations for your stay:
- Add the host's information to your smartphone. Take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Lock your rental home while you are away. Keep your property safe!
- Note any issues with the rental upon arrival, and immediately send them to the property manager. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are very helpful if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Be a good neighbor. Often times, adjacent homes are filled by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking rules is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Just before checking out, take a final walk-through to make sure you didn't leave anything behind. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Please make sure to walk through the rental a final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, take video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- After your trip, leave a review! Property owners rely on good ratings to inspire new reservations. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other families will be thankful you shared your review and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
