Tricks and tips for getting the perfect vacation property experience:
Finding your best deal:
- Book your rental property in Fall or Spring to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities.
- The earlier your group can reserve a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable properties are reserved early. Reserving your vacation property up to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and book your rental.
- Some property managers offer promotional rates for veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your family.
- Property management companies typically offer their guests an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for specifics.
- Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply New Bern area travel guides which include special offers, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Narrow your Search:
- Choose a group leader, choose your dates, and select a max budget.
- Decide how many beds and the bed configuration you need. Sand and Surf a home with awesome views has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts is often accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, reach out to the property management company before you reserve the rental. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches.
- Are you looking for special amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find your ideal rental.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- If your family is vacationing with pets, you must book a pet-friendly property. Make sure to ask for details on breed, weight, and type requirements. Some property owners charge additional pet fees.
More tips for your stay:
- We recommend storing the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Upon check-in, record any issues with the property and immediately contact the property manager. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable vacationers disrupting your peaceful home. Practice the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and places you would've not otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Keep your rental home locked while you're away! Don't let burglars spoil your family vacation.
- Re-check the rental property to make sure that you've packed all personal items at check-out. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Property managers rely on good ratings to propel more reservations. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
