Finding the best rental experience:

How to get the best value:

  • To get the best value, try shifting your group's trip dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer great temperatures, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season.
  • In the New Bern area, The sooner your group can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation homes are reserved very early. Booking your rental property 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your vacation rental.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner whether your group qualifies for a special rate.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer renters an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
  • Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply New Bern area visitor guides which often include special offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Filter your search:

  • Select a group lead, select your vacation dates, and select a max budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the bed configuration you need. Sand and Surf a home with awesome views has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is normally available on booking websites. If not, call the property owner before you book the property. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches. You will need to work out what configuration is optimal for your vacation.
  • Does your group require particular amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the best rental.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental
  • Are you bringing the family pet? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your agreement! Pet fees or charges might be applied to your invoice.

Some things to know before you go:

  • Store the host's information in your smartphone.
  • To make certain that damages are not linked to your visit, inspect the rental for any problem areas during check in. Get in touch with the property manager right away to relay any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are a fantastic source for finding the best local attractions.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Lock your rental home while you are out. Keep your property safe!
  • Upon check-out, take a walk-through to confirm you didn't leave anything behind. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Walk through the property a final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host is not available, ensure that you take photos and video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Remember to leave feedback! Hosts rely on great feedback to compel more bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other families will will be grateful for your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
