Our top Beaufort vacation rental tips and tricks:
Get the most from your vacation rental budget:
- Summertime is the most expensive season in Beaufort. To find the best value, consider shifting your vacation dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer warmer weather, , and reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- The sooner your group can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The best vacation rentals are reserved very early. Reserving your rental home six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and book your rental home.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager if your family qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer guests an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for details.
- Look for your local New Bern area magazine when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitor guide magazines have coupons for nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.
How to choose the best vacation home in the New Bern area:
- Start by having your group select the best dates and a maximum budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. Vitamin Sea- Home in Beau Coast Community in Beaufort, NC has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is often accessible online. Otherwise, reach out to the host before you book the property. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to determine what is best for your vacation group.
- If there's a certain New Bern attraction you are enamored with, look for rentals that are either near by, or those that cater to your requirements.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking
- Some rental properties allow pets, and some do not. Acceptable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the owner about pet restrictions before booking.
More tips for your visit:
- Get the host's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property.
- To make sure that no damages are attributed to your family's stay, record any problem areas upon check in. Get in touch with the host immediately to report any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful visitors bothering your life at home. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and attractions you would've not otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home when you are away, just like you would back home.
- On check-out day, complete a walk-through to confirm you did not leave anything behind. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did you have a fantastic vacation? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your property and/or property management company was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was wrong and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
