Strategies for getting the perfect Beaufort rental experience:
Get the best rental value:
- Summer is high season in the New Bern area. Reserving a rental home in the Fall or Spring is an excellent way to save on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable properties. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often open twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer rental homes during Winter holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host whether your group qualifies for a special rate.
- Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer customers an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Often, property management companies supply New Bern area travel guides which often include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Narrow your rental Search:
- Start by having your group agree to dates and a max budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Waterfront Condo Getaway has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our New Bern rentals search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is regularly available on booking websites. Otherwise, email or call the host before reserving the vacation property. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- If there's a certain New Bern destination you love, look for rentals that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your needs.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. .
- Some rental properties allow pets, and others do not. Acceptable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the host about your furry family members before booking.
Tips for your stay:
- Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Save the directions to your smartphone, and take a printed copy.
- Note any damages to the rental at check in, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are valuable if damages are assessed.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, stereo or washer/dryer. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents a lot of problems.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are an excellent source for finding the best local beaches.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Lock your rental home while you are away. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
- Double-check the rental property to make sure that you've packed all personal items on check-out day. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Please make sure to walk through the property one final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the host is not available, ensure that you take photos and video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a excellent stay? Most rental management companies make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property management company was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
