Tips for getting the perfect Beaufort rental home experience:
When to visit & When to reserve a New Bern rental home:
- Summer is high season in the New Bern area. To get the largest vacation home for your budget, we recommend booking in the Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at your favorite New Bern restaurants and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer vacations during holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Some property management companies offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Ask your property manager if special offers are available for your group before you book.
- Property management companies usually offer customers an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for details.
- Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply New Bern area travel guides which will include special deals, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Selecting the perfect vacation home in the New Bern area:
- Start by having your family agree to the best dates and a max budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Waterfront Condo Getaway has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts is almost always available on booking websites. If they are not listed, call the property management company before booking the vacation home. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds. You'll need to work out which bed configuration is right for your vacation group.
- If there's a certain New Bern beach you love, look for homes that are either nearby, or those that cater to your needs.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental
- If your group is bringing pets, you must book a rental that allows animals. Ask for information on breed, size, and type requirements. Some hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.
Tips to have a wonderful stay:
- Put the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Note any damages to the property at check in, and immediately contact the host. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be valuable if a dispute is filed.
- Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
- Respect the neighborhood. Frequently, surrounding homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental when you are away, just like you would back home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the property to confirm you've collected all belongings. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the property one final time and look for damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can. If the host isn't available, remember to take photos of the rental to record its condition.
- Did your family have a terrific vacation? Many rental management companies make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property manager was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was wrong and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
