Tips to get the perfect vacation home experience:
Sticking to a rental home budget:
- The sooner your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation homes are booked very early. Booking your rental up to 12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental.
- Summer is high season in Beaufort. Reserving a rental home in Fall or Spring months is our best tip for saving money on your rental home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable properties. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- Property management companies sometimes offer promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your group.
- Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer renters an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Look for your local New Bern visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitors guide magazines have coupons for local accommodations, restaurants and tours.
Finding the perfect vacation rental:
- Start by choosing your trip dates and a max budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your group requires. Waterfront Condo Getaway has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property owner before you reserve your rental. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to work out what bed configuration is right for your vacation.
- If your family is traveling with pets, filter your search for a pet-friendly rental. Get specifics on breed, size, and type restrictions. Some hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.
- If there's a particular New Bern attraction you are crazy about, browse rentals that are either near by, or those that cater to your needs.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. .
Considerations for your stay:
- Be sure you get the host's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental. Store the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
- Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Lock your rental while you're away. Protect your property!
- Upon check-in, record any damages to the property and immediately alert the owner. Record all coorespondence.
- Respect the neighborhood. Frequently, nearby homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- When it's time to leave, take a walk-through to make sure you have not forget any personal items. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- After your trip, leave a review! Property managers rely on good ratings to inspire more reservations. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your review find their best vacation home. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
