Getting the best New Bern rental experience:

Finding your perfect rental home:

  • The sooner you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best properties are booked early. Booking your vacation home 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and book your rental property.
  • Summer months are the most expensive season along the coast of NC. Reserve your New Bern rental property in the Fall or Spring to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager if your vacationing group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
  • Property managers frequently offer renters an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for details.
  • Find a copy of your local New Bern area magazine when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local stories, visitor guides have deals for nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.

Selecting the best vacation home in the New Bern area:

  • Choose a group leader, select your vacation week, and choose a maximum budget.
  • Note the number beds and the bed configuration you need. Little Queen on Craven has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our New Bern rental home search.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, contact the property management company before reserving the home. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to work out what is right for your vacation.
  • If your group is vacationing with pets, you'll need to find a pet-friendly vacation rental. Get specifics on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Some hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.
  • If there's an individual New Bern attraction you simply love, browse properties that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your desires.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental

Additional considerations:

  • Put the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, television set or appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent quite a few issues.
  • Keep the property locked while you are gone! Don't let crooks ruin your holiday.
  • To ensure that damages aren't attributed to your family's visit, make note of any problem areas upon check in. E-mail the rental manager immediately to relay your findings. If there is a dispute, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be an incredible resource to find the best local beaches.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected everything. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Please make sure to walk through the property one final time and look for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, ensure that you take video of the property to record its condition.
  • Did your family have a wonderful stay? Most rental managers make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property manager was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was inoperable and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
