Emerald Isle vacation rental tips and tricks:

Get the most from your rental home budget:

  • The sooner you can reserve a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The best rental homes are booked very early. Reserving your rental property up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental home.
  • Summer months are the most expensive season in Emerald Isle. Book your New Bern rental in Fall or Spring months to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner whether your group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
  • Property managers frequently offer customers an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for details.
  • Find a copy of your local New Bern area magazine when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitors guide magazines contain offers and deals for local tours and attractions.

Selecting and booking a perfectrental:

  • First, have your group select the best dates and a maximum budget.
  • Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. New! Glamping Adventure Beach Cabana with A\/C has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our New Bern rentals search.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed types is commonly accessible on booking websites. If they are not listed, email the property management company before reserving the vacation property. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches.
  • If your family is vacationing with pets, filter your search for a pet-friendly vacation rental. Make sure to ask for information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Be aware that some property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.
  • Are you looking for specific amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists. Use these filters to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking

Considerations for your stay:

  • Get the property manager's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your . We recommend storing the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, stereo or appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent many difficulties.
  • Lock your rental home while you are away. Keep your property safe!
  • During check-in, make note of any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the property manager. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious visitors disrupting your home life. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would've never otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Re-check the vacation property to confirm that you've packed everything at departure. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the property a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host is not available, remember to take photos of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your group have a great vacation? Most rental managers make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property management company was wonderful, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
