Rental property booking tips:
Finding the best rental value:
- June, July, and August are high season in the New Bern area. To get the best value, shift your family's New Bern vacation week to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer pleasant weather, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- In the New Bern area, The earlier you can book, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental properties are booked very early. Booking your rental home six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and book your vacation rental.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host if your group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Property management companies typically offer their guests an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for more information.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitors guides contain coupons for local shops and restaurants.
Make a plan and pick the best New Bern rental home:
- Select a group lead, choose your dates, and choose a max budget.
- Note the number beds and the bed configuration your family requires. Perfect Beach Cottage - Walking Distance to Everything has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our New Bern rentals search.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually available online. Otherwise, call the property management company before you reserve your rental. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to establish what bed configuration is optimal for your group.
- If there's a specific New Bern attraction you are crazy about, browse homes that are either near by, or those that cater to your needs.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. .
- If your family is vacationing with pets, you'll need to book a property that allows animals. Get information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Often, property owners charge pet deposits and fees.
Advice for a great stay:
- Add the host's information to your smartphone. Understand and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- During arrival, document any issues with the property and immediately alert the host. Record all coorespondence.
- Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be a good neighbor. Frequently, nearby homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Lock your rental while you're out and about. Protect your property!
- Re-check the property to confirm that you've packed all belongings at departure. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your family have a great stay? Many rental websites make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your property and/or property management company was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was defective and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
