Tips for getting the perfect Atlantic Beach vacation property experience:

Getting the most from your vacation rental budget:

  • The sooner you can reserve a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental properties are booked very early. Reserving your rental 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and book your vacation home.
  • Summertime is the most expensive season in Atlantic Beach. To book the most suitable vacation home within budget, we strongly suggest reserving in the Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at the beach and popular New Bern attractions. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction.
  • Property managers frequently offer guests an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
  • Many property management companies supply New Bern area visitor guide magazines which often include special deals, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Use filters to narrow your search:

  • First, have your group decide on dates and a maximum budget.
  • Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Southwinds G17 - 2 Bedrooms, 1.5 Baths, Almost Oceanfront Condo! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our New Bern rentals search.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, call the property owner before booking your rental. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, and some do not. Acceptable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the host about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
  • Is your group looking for specific amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters with amenity lists. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental

Considerations for your stay:

  • Get the owner's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home. Store the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Keep the property locked while you're out! Don't let crooks ruin your vacation.
  • To make certain that damages aren't attributed to your family's visit, note any problem areas during arrival. E-mail the property manager immediately to relay your findings. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful vacationers bothering your peace. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and places you would have not otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Just prior to departing, take a walk-through to confirm you haven't forget anything. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the rental one final time and keep an eye out for damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the host is not available, remember to take video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Remember to leave a review! Property owners rely on great feedback to drive more bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your review find their best vacation home. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
