Strategies for getting the best vacation property experience:
Cost saving strategies:
- Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the New Bern area. Booking your vacation rental in Spring or Fall is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable homes. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- Some owners offer rate reductions for active duty military and veterans. Ask your host or property manager if rate reductions are available for your family.
- Booking websites frequently offer customers an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for details.
- Find a copy of your local New Bern visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitors guides contain coupons for local tours, shops, and attractions.
Narrow your Search:
- Start by selecting vacation dates and a budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the configuration you need. 2\/2 Ocean View Condo at APATB Resort has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is commonly available on booking pages. Otherwise, email or call the property manager before booking the home. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to work out which bed configuration is suitable for your vacation group.
- Are you bringing the family pet? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your agreement! Additional pet fees or costs might be applied to your agreement.
- Are you visiting for a single event? Use a map search to browse nearby properties.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Remember to confirm all required amenities are included before booking
Additional considerations:
- We recommend storing the owner's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or kitchen appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent many concerns.
- Keep your rental home locked while you're gone! Don't let thieves spoil your trip.
- To ensure that no damages are attributed to your family's stay, make note of any problem areas during arrival. message the host right away to document any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant vacationers bothering your peace and quiet. Use the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would've never otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- When it's time to leave, complete a walk-through to make sure you didn't forget any personal items. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the property a final time and keep an eye out for damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, take video and pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- After your trip, leave a review! Hosts rely on good feedback to inspire more bookings. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your experience find their best vacation home. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
