How to get the best Pine Knoll Shores rental experience:
Money saving strategies:
- Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Reserve your New Bern vacation home in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds.
- Property managers sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your group.
- Booking websites typically offer their guests an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly costs 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for specifics.
- Find a copy of your local New Bern area magazine upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, travel guide magazines contain deals for nearby shops and restaurants.
Narrow your rental Search:
- Begin by selecting your a vacation week and a maximum budget.
- Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your group needs. 4 bedroom retreat just two blocks from ocean access. Pet-friendly! has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our New Bern rental home search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is often available on booking pages. If they are not listed, email or call the property manager before reserving the property. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to determine what configuration is suitable for your vacation.
- Some rental properties allow pets, but some do not. Allowable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask your host about allowable breeds and types before booking.
- Visiting for a single event or attraction? If so, use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
More considerations for your visit:
- Be sure you get the owner's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your .
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, intercom or coffee maker. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents a lot of problems.
- Keep the property locked while you're away! Don't let thieves ruin your vacation.
- Upon arrival, document any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the property manager. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Be a good neighbor. Often, adjacent homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can often help. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected all personal belongings. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the rental one final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, take photographs of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did you have a great time? Many rental managers make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your property and/or property manager was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was amiss and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
