Our top New Bern rental booking tips:
Get the most from your rental home budget:
- Summer time is high season in Atlantic Beach. Booking in the Fall or Spring is our best tip for saving money on your rental home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable properties. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer rental homes during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Property management companies sometimes offer rate reductions for active duty military and veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your family.
- Booking websites typically offer renters an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for details.
- Look for your local New Bern area magazine when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitors guide magazines have money saving offers on nearby accommodations and attractions.
Use filters to narrow your rental search:
- Choose vacation dates and budget.
- Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your family needs. Third-Floor Condo at Oceanfront Resort with Balconies, WiFi & Shared Pools\/Gym has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is often available on booking websites. If they are not listed, contact the property manager before you reserve your rental. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds and bunks.
- If there's a particular New Bern beach you simply love, search for properties that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your needs.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- If your group is bringing pets, you must book a property that allows animals. Request details on breed, weight, and type requirements. Often, property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
Have a great stay:
- Take a copy of the host's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental property. We recommend storing the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- To make certain damages aren't linked to your visit, inspect for any problem areas upon your arrival. Speak to the host immediately to record your findings. If there is a dispute, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Respect the neighborhood. Often times, adjacent homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking rules reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Lock your rental while you are away. Keep your property safe!
- At departure, complete a final walk-through to make sure you have not forget any personal items. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your family have a terrific time? Many rental management companies make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or host was wonderful, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was out of order and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
