Finding the best New Bern rental experience:

How to get the best rental home value:

  • In the New Bern area, The earlier you can book, the better your selection will be. The best rental homes are booked early. Booking your vacation home 6-12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental home.
  • To get the best value, try shifting your family's New Bern vacation to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer warmer temperatures, , and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season.
  • Hosts sometimes offer promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your group before you book.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer customers an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for additional information.
  • Find a copy of your local New Bern area magazine upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local stories, travel guides have deals for local tours and attractions.

How to pick the best rental home:

  • Begin by selecting your vacation dates and a maximum budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration you need. A stones throw to CarolinaEast and downtown New Bern. has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is normally available online. If they are not listed, reach out to the property manager before you book your home. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull out couches in living rooms.
  • If your family is vacationing with pets, you must book a pet-friendly vacation rental. Ask for information on breed, size, and type restrictions. Note that some property managers charge pet deposits and fees.
  • Are you visiting for a single event? Use a map search to locate nearby properties.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Remember to confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental

More considerations for your visit:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Save the instructions to your smartphone, and take a printed copy.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, intercom or appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents quite a few problems.
  • Keep the property locked while you're away! Don't let crooks spoil your holiday.
  • At Check-in, make note of any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the owner. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud visitors bothering your life at home. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would've not otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Just prior to departing, take a final walk-through to make sure you have not forget anything. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the rental a final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, remember to take photos of the property to record its condition.
  • Did you have a terrific vacation? Many rental management companies make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or host was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was wrong and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
