Tricks and tips to get the perfect New Bern rental home experience:
When to go & When to reserve a rental home:
- In the New Bern area, The sooner you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable properties are booked very early. Reserving your vacation rental six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and book your vacation rental.
- Summer months are high season in Atlantic Beach. Booking a rental in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is a good way to save on your rental home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable properties. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer.
- Some property management companies offer special rates for veterans and active duty military. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your group.
- Property managers often offer renters an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which generally costs 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for additional information.
- Often, rental management companies supply New Bern area visitors guide magazines that include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
How to pick the best rental:
- Begin by choosing vacation dates and a maximum budget.
- Decide how many beds and the configuration your family needs. Beautiful Oceanview Third Floor Home w\/Shared Pool, Free WiFi, Balcony has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally accessible on booking websites. If not, contact the property manager before reserving the home. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds. You will need to establish what bed configuration is best for your group.
- If your group is vacationing with pets, you must reserve a property that allows animals. Get specifics on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Be aware that some hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.
- If there's a certain New Bern attraction you simply love, browse properties that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your desires.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
More considerations for your visit:
- Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the instructions to your phone.
- Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
- Lock your rental property while you are out! Don't let crooks ruin your trip.
- Upon check-in, record any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the owner. Record all coorespondence.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud vacationers disrupting your peaceful neighborhood. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would've not otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can usually help. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Upon check-out, take a walk-through to confirm you haven't forget any personal items. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Walk through the property a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, ensure that you take video of the property to record its condition.
- Did your group have a wonderful stay? Many rental websites make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property manager was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
