Tricks and tips to get the optimal New Bern rental home experience:
Getting the best rental home value:
- Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules often open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer vacations during holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Beaufort. Reserve your New Bern vacation home in Spring or Fall to get the benefit of gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host if your group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Property management companies typically offer their guests an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for specifics.
- Often, rental management companies supply New Bern area travel guide magazines which include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
How to choose and book the perfectrental home:
- Select a group lead, choose your dates, and choose a maximum budget.
- Note the number beds and the bed configuration your group requires. Elizabeth Bell House, Soundside House in Beaufort, NC! has 5 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our New Bern rentals search.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is commonly available on booking websites. If they are not listed, contact the property owner before you book the home. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds and bunks.
- If your family is traveling with pets, search for a property that allows animals. Get specifics on breed, weight, and type requirements. Be aware that some hosts charge additional pet fees.
- Are you visiting for a specific attraction or event? Use a map search to find nearby properties.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all required amenities are included before booking.
Tips for a wonderful stay:
- Add the property manager's contact information to your smartphone. Print and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Lock your vacation home while you are out and about. Keep your property safe!
- Record any issues with the property at check in, and immediately e-mail them to the property manager. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are useful if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are an excellent source for finding the best local scenic spots.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- When it's time to leave, take a walk-through to make sure you didn't forget any personal items. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the property a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the property manager is not available, take photos and video of the rental to record its condition.
- Did your group have a great stay? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or host was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
