Tips for getting the perfect vacation home experience:
Getting the most from your spending budget:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of NC. To get the best value, consider shifting your vacation dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer warmer weather, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months.
- Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer vacations during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Booking websites often offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for additional information.
- Look for your local visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitors guides have coupons for nearby tours and attractions.
Make a plan and pick the best New Bern rental home:
- Choose a group leader, select your trip dates, and select a budget.
- Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your group requires. Great spot for extended stays! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts is often accessible on booking pages. If not, call the property owner before you reserve your rental. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to work out what is right for your group.
- Is your group looking for particular amenities? Most rental websites include search filters for amenities. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find your ideal rental.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. .
- Traveling with pets? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your agreement! Pet fees or costs may be applied to your agreement.
Some things to know before you go:
- We recommend storing the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- To ensure that no damages are linked to your visit, make a record of any problem areas upon your arrival. text the host immediately to document your findings. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, television set or washer/dryer. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent lots of problems.
- Be respectful. Often times, adjacent homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Lock your vacation home while you're away. Keep your property safe!
- Double-check every room of the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all belongings at departure. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the property a final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest walking through with the host whenever possible. If the host isn't available, ensure that you take pictures of the property to record its condition.
- Did your group have a fantastic stay? Most rental management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your property and/or property manager was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was out of order and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
