Booking the best rental home experience:

Cost saving strategies:

  • Summer is the most expensive season in the New Bern area. Reserving a rental home in Fall or Spring months is a good way to save on your vacation home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable properties.
  • Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host if your group qualifies for a discount.
  • Property managers usually offer renters an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for additional information.
  • Often, rental management companies supply New Bern area travel guide magazines which often include special offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Use filters to narrow your search:

  • To start, have your family select trip dates and a max budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the configuration your group requires. Summer Winds A-404, Oceanfront Condo in Indian Beach, NC! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is often available on booking pages. If they are not listed, call the host before booking the vacation property. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to work out what configuration is suitable for your vacation.
  • Are you visiting for a specific event or attraction? Use a map search to browse nearby properties.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. .
  • If your group is traveling with pets, you must book a pet-friendly vacation rental. Make sure to ask for specifics on breed, size, and type restrictions. Be aware that some hosts charge additional pet fees.

More considerations for your visit:

  • We recommend storing the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • To make certain damages are not linked to your visit, make a record of any problem areas during arrival. text the rental manager right away to relay any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, elevator or thermostat. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents quite a few difficulties.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud visitors bothering your peace and quiet. Employ the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would have never otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically help. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Lock your rental home while you're out and about. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
  • Re-check the rental property to make sure that you've packed everything at check-out. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the rental a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host is not available, ensure that you take photos and video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your family have a fantastic vacation? Many rental managers make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your property and/or host was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was wrong and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
