Tips to get the perfect rental experience:

Getting the most from your vacation rental budget:

  • To book the best rental within your budget, we strongly suggest booking in the Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at New Bern restaurants, tours, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
  • Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rental homes during holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host if your group qualifies for a discount.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners often offer guests an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
  • Find a copy of your local New Bern visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local information, visitor guide magazines contain discounts for local accommodations, tours and attractions.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • Choose your vacation dates and budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Beaufort Creek Retreat has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is almost always accessible online. If they are not listed, call the property management company before booking the vacation property. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches. You will need to establish what is optimal for your trip.
  • Are you visiting for a specific event or attraction? Try a map search to find nearby rentals.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. .
  • Do your family pets travel with you? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your rental agreement! Pet fees or could be applied to your invoice.

Know before you go:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Save the directions to your smartphone, and take a printed backup.
  • Upon check-in, record any issues with the property and immediately contact the property manager. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
  • Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome visitors bothering your peaceful home life. Apply the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and places you would've never otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Lock your vacation home while you're out and about. Keep your property safe!
  • Just prior to departing, take a final walk-through to make sure you haven't leave anything behind. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the rental a final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest walking through with the host whenever possible. If the manager is not available, ensure that you take photos of the property to record its condition.
  • Did you have a great time? Many rental managers make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your rental and/or property management company was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
